A Modern Cliffside Wedding at Le Belvedere in Wakefield | Hayley + Owen

What a way to end our Ottawa / Gatineau 2019 wedding season with Hayley and Owen’s gorgeous cliffside wedding at Le Belvedere, my favourite venue!  I first met Hayley at her sister’s all white chic Brockville wedding two years ago, so we were ecstatic that her and Owen reached out to us to photograph their wedding in Wakefield.  It was that much more special for me to be there!  

Hayley also chose her wedding vendors very well! All my favourite artists working together to make their dream wedding come true.  Klava Zykova made her up with a fall glam look that worked perfectly with her long loose curls that TopKnot Hairstylist created.  Wedecor designed her soft jewel-toned bouquet with that modern garden-inspired feeling that is all the rage these days (and quite honestly, should be all the rage ALL THE TIME!).  

Hayley got ready at the new Garden House, an incredible 3-story property that every Le Belvedere bride should be getting ready in!  White-washed walls, a huge space for your entire bridal party and family (if you like) and the makeup/hair section is lit so well. One of the largest, brightest and most beautiful getting-ready spaces a bride (a makeup artist, hairstylist AND photographer, let’s be honest) could ever ask for.   

The two opted for a first look, and they huddled through the wind storm that took hold of the region, for their portraits.  I think the wind added just the right amount of ‘je ne sais quoi’, even though they froze in between takes. They were open to battling all the elements and you can’t notice a single shiver in the outcome. It was such a joy spending the day with these two kind-hearted people.

We shot Hayley’s sister’s wedding 2 years ago! So, it was extra special capturing Hayley’s turn!

Because I had plenty of time getting all the detail shots, I went nuts with all the variety possible! It was such a relaxing morning/afternoon.

We scheduled lots of time for their first look and bride-groom photos. Because of this, they had an opportunity to take a ‘warm-up’ break in between. The wind was chilling, but they were so good at working through the weather together!

They had a chance to see their reception space before guests arrived! I always recommend this if there is enough time. To take it all in before the main event takes place.

When the desert table opened up to the guests, everything was eaten up within the first few minutes!

Although we didn’t get much of a sunset, we snuck out for a couple more last photos before the reception hyped up.
